The Great Martian War 1913 - 1917
The Great Martian War 1913 - 1917
Scusate ma l'ho commentata solo in inglese e non ho voglia di tradurre
"The Great Martian War 1913-1917" is a 2013 Canadian mockumentary about alternate history: in this universe, the Great War never happened because two years before the whole world found itself at war against so-called Martians.
This mockumentary is clearly a tribute to "War of the Worlds", from the beginning to the (supposed) final twist , but it's also surprisingly full of twists and ideas (which I won't spoil).
The documentary style is very well conveyed, the storytelling is thrilling and the special effects (mixing real Worl War 1 footage and CGI machines) are fairly good.
The acting (of the surviving witnesses to the Martian War) is good, and the plot concepts are (bravely) brought to their extreme consequences. The actual development has some truly epic moments, as the war extends from Germany to the rest of Europe, hitting United Kingdom first and USA later.
Ultimately, though, What most surprised me is that nowadays there's still someone who can produce such classical a piece of science fiction: actual facts and concepts and plot, instead of the modern endless chatter, self-referencing innuendo and emo pettiness that is festering in the sci-fi series I used to love. I truly enjoyed this one!
